Member Organizer

24 hours per week at $22 per hour.

 

The Vermont Progressive Party is seeking to hire a part time (24 hours/week) Member Organizer to assist with our Party reorganization efforts. This position will last August - December, with the possibility of extending in 2024. 

 

Responsibilities: 

The Member Organizer shall be responsible for leading Progressive Party reorganization efforts in consultation with the Executive Director, Coordinating Committee, and the Organizing Committee.

 

Responsibilities may include: 

 

Organizing: 

  • Work with the ED, Chair, and stakeholders to create an outreach and recruitment plan to reorganize Progressive Party town, county, and state committees with full consultation and assistance of the Executive Director, Coordinating Committee, and Organizing Committee

  • Oversee outreach efforts through phone banks, email, social media, and in-person meetings

  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements for reorganization

  • Identify and develop new leaders

  • Act as a resource for local leaders and a liaison between local town/county committees and statewide leadership

  • Participate in local meetings and events as needed

  • Act as a point of contact for people to get involved with the VPP

 

Communications

  • Support the strategic communications plan of the VPP through social media and mass email

 

Internal Systems

  • Create a system for tracking member outreach and town committees with consultation and support from the Executive Director

  • Attend weekly meetings with Chair and Vice chair of Party and Executive Director to ensure that tasks are being completed and delegated effectively

  • Attend and help  facilitate a weekly or biweekly organizing committee meeting

 

Fundraising

  • Support small donor grassroots fundraising efforts in consultation with the Executive Director

 

The ideal candidate will have: 

  • Strong commitment to building the Vermont Progressive Party

  • Strong commitment to social, economic, and climate justice

  • 1 year of paid or unpaid experience with organizing and advocacy, especially in Vermont

  • Strong communication and writing skills

  • The ability to work both independently and collaboratively
