Burlington, VT- The Burlington Progressive Party issued a statement in support of protecting Burlington’s historically marginalized residents under a Trump Presidency. The statement came on the heels of Progressive City Councilor Selene Colburn’s resolution supporting Syrian refugees earlier this month.

The statement reads, “Burlington Progressives will continue to fight alongside our fellow residents in the LGBTQ, Muslim, Latino, Native American, and immigrant communities, communities of color, those with disabilities, and those who identify as women, to ensure that Burlington gives those members the respect and safety they deserve. We will also continue to fight to ensure these historically marginalized groups are given a strong voice in our local government.”

Burlington Progressive Party Chair, Charles Winkleman, added that, “Now more than ever, we need to come together as a community to ensure the safety and dignity of our family, friends, and neighbors who feel threatened by President-elect Trump.”
