Katherine Sims, Lowell, Orleans County
Katherine Sims is the Founder and Executive Director of Green Mountain Farm-to-School, a non-profit organization working to improve childhood nutrition and support Vermont farms by building school gardens, delivering local food to school cafeterias, and educating students about healthy food choices. Katherine has a B.A. in history from Yale University where she worked with students to develop the Yale Farm and establish school gardens at local elementary schools. Prior to joining GMFTS, Katherine apprenticed at several farms in northern Vermont. Katherine served as Auditor for the Town of Westfield for four years and currently serves on the board of UVM Extension.
In 2012, Katherine ran as a Progressive candidate in the Orleans-Lamoille District against a Republican incumbent. Katherine loves to ski and enjoys raising chickens and vegetables in Lowell with her husband, Jeff Fellinger.
